Juveniles accused of being drunk, assaulting woman

The Grand Junction Police Department arrested two juveniles Friday morning after a 19-year-old woman reported that she had been assaulted at an Orchard Mesa apartment.

Kate Porras, spokeswoman for the Police Department, said investigators arrested the two juveniles after an investigation revealed they had become intoxicated and assaulted the 19-year-old around 3:30 a.m. Friday.

Two other suspects also were arrested during the investigation on suspicion of unrelated crimes and warrants, according to Police Department reports.

Cassandra Leigh Anstaett, 18, 2680 B 1/2 Road, No. 4E, was arrested on suspicion of criminal impersonation after she gave police a false name after officers contacted her at her home, the site of the suspected assault.

According to Anstaett’s arrest affidavit, she lied in an effort to keep police from discovering a warrant for her arrest issued by the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Department.

The warrant was issued after she reportedly failed to show up in court to address a traffic ticket, the affidavit said.

Evan William Phillips, 18, 2784 1/2 Quincy Place, also was arrested during the investigation after officers learned he had a warrant out for his arrest.

Porras said police are continuing to investigate the assault case.
