Last chance to speak up on economy

MONTROSE — Residents have through today to submit their ideas for improving and growing the economy within Montrose County by completing an 11-question online survey.

The survey results will be combined with development plans from the city of Montrose and Montrose Economic Development Corporation and presented to the public at Friendship Hall on March 31 at 6 p.m.

The final plan will be submitted to the state April 15.

Gov. John Hickenlooper initiated the Bottom-Up Economic Development Plan Initiative, a county-by-county search for economic ideas that could be implemented statewide.

All of Colorado’s 64 counties are submitting plans to the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade and their partner, the Colorado State University Office of Engagement and Extension.

The purpose of the initiative is to find ways to lure new industry, create jobs, help Colorado become more competitive and repair the state’s economy.
