Leaders to hear plan to rebuild Royal Gorge park

CANON CITY — Canon City leaders will meet this week to hear about a plan to rebuild the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, most of which was destroyed by a wildfire earlier this summer.

The Canon City Daily Record reports (http://bit.ly/18TwMWJ ) the city council will meet Monday night with the owner of the 360-acre tourist attraction and the design and construction firm that was selected to rebuild the park.

The Royal Gorge Fire started June 11 and burned more than 3,000 acres. It also destroyed 48 of the park’s 52 buildings, but left the bridge nearly unscathed.
