Legislature This Week, Feb. 21, 2011

Republicans continue to introduce measures that would undo some of the things Democrats have approved in recent years.

Today: The House Local Government Committee will look at a bill from Rep. Roger Wilson, D-Glenwood Springs, to allow local tourism promotion efforts to get technical help from the state’s tourism office.

Tuesday: A freshman lawmaker from Colorado Springs is asking the House Health & Environment Committee to approve HB1025, doing away with a newly created hospital provider fee that generates funds to provide health care for the poor.

Wednesday: The House Finance Committee will look at HB1162 to return a sales tax exemption to soft drinks.

Thursday: HB1207, which would impose a 10-cent fee on movie tickets to fund tax credits for the film industry, will be debated in the House Economic & Business Development Committee.

Next week: A House committee will consider a bill to outlaw edible medical-marijuana products, while a Senate panel will eye a bill aimed at cracking down on bullying in public schools.
