Library land sale approved

Members of the Mesa County Public Library District Board of Trustees voted Thursday evening to move forward with selling the library’s land at 536 Ouray Ave.

The site is home to former library offices that once housed the Rio Grande Credit Union. The offices are no longer needed following the renovation and expansion of the district’s central library, located south of the site at 443 N. Sixth St.

Good Samaritan Clinic used the building temporarily this summer while it was for sale.

Trustees approved the sale in a closed session Thursday but will not reveal who purchased the land until the sale is finalized Sept. 10, according to Trustee President Barry Blanchard.

The property at 536 Ouray Ave. was listed with Bray & Co. The listing and options to purchase the library’s neighboring properties at 501 Chipeta Ave. and 502 Ouray Ave. as well were no longer available online at Bray’s site Thursday evening.
