Library event offers opportunity to learn about other cultures

Join Mesa County Libraries in celebrating cultural diversity with Culture Fest on Saturday, Nov. 5.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Central Library, 530 Grand Ave., there will be free entertainment, native foods, artwork and demonstrations of traditions by members of various cultures.

The entertainment will begin with the Talking Rhythms percussion group followed by a noon presentation by inspirational speaker Velia Rincon.

From 1–2 p.m., a variety of cultural diversity clubs from Colorado Mesa University will give performances — Ho’olokahi hula dancers and the Native American Bear Dance.

From 2 p.m. on, there will be a Zumba dance and performances from tango dancers Alice and Scott Betts, Nepalese dancers and a Yo-Yo demonstration by Yo-Yo Man Aman Tice.

The Culture Fest Art Show will be on display through Nov. 30 in the library’s downstairs program room during regular library hours.
