Orchard Gun Club event
The Orchard Mesa Gun Club will hold its annual Savage Club Shoot and public sight-in day on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The club is located at 150 Browning Rd. (Highway 141 area of A1/2).
The event will have rifles from Savage Arms available for people to shoot. They include a variety of weapons including a .338 Lapua law enforcement series bolt action rifle.
The first three rounds of ammunition will be supplied for most rifles with extra rounds costing $1 each. The Lapua will cost shooters $5 a round. The world’s fastest rimfire weapon will also be available to shoot.
The local 4-H club youth shooters will also be on hand for demonstrations. They will be demonstrating rifles, archery, black powder and more.
There will also be a variety of custom-made rifles on display. Some of these rifles will be available to shoot.

GJ Force to hold tryouts
The GJ Force 14U competitive softball team will be holding tryouts on Sunday, Sept. 15 from 4-6 p.m. at Monument Little League. Tryouts will also be held for those interested in a 12U and/or 10U team that is forming for the 2014 season. Contact: Bryan 270-6614 or Robin 260-3238 for further details.
