Local woman earns more than $1 million selling supplements

Bette James Laughrun has made more than a million dollars in commissions selling Isagenix, a cleansing and weight loss nuritional line.

When Bette James Laughrun began using Isagenix products more than six years ago, she was not thinking of a career.

“I had some health issues, and I thought I’d get involved with them to help my health,” the 72-year-old Laughrun said. “All of a sudden I was making money. Today I am one of the millionaires with Isagenix.”

Isagenix is a network marketing company based in Phoenix. Laughrun is one of 32 Isagenix “millionaires,” or sellers in the company that have earned more than $1 million in commissions.

Isagenix offers nutritional supplements, skin-care products and cleansing systems that can aid weight loss and remove impurities from the body.

On Feb. 5, at a three-day “Reach for the Stars” event in San Francisco, she was recognized as a top-100 income earner with the company between July and December 2008.

In November, Laughrun launched a side project, ThePeopleBuilders.com, that works with churches and community organizations to help improve the health of the group members.

She leads a team of about 50 Isagenix associates around the country who host workshops.

“I’m teaching the leaders, and the leaders are teaching their people,” Laughrun said.

Leaders host education seminars for churches and community groups. They provide follow-up and support for those who want to do a program with Isagenix products.

“We try and help them see they can make a difference by themselves,” Laughrun said.

“We’re trying to help find some solutions.”
