Local brief, Feb. 20, 2011

Problematic streetlights that have left Grand Junction’s Riverside Parkway mostly in the dark are slated to be fixed this week, according to city officials.

The 305 existing bulbs will be replaced with metal halide bulbs Saturday. Replacements are expected to completed in one day.

Workers will start replacing bulbs from the east end of the parkway and work toward the west end. Motorists can expect one lane to be closed in work areas as crews replace lights. A section of the parkway between Ninth Street and D Road will be closed to westbound traffic, and traffic will diverted.
