Nonprofits get Daniels money

Several Western Slope nonprofit groups received grants from the Denver-based Daniels Fund, the philanthropic group announced last week.

The grants, which the group awards on a regular basis, went to organizations that serve seniors, youth and the disabled.

Recipients included All Points Transit in Montrose; Boy Scouts of America, Western Colorado Council; Columbine Home Health in Glenwood Springs; Early Childhood Partners in Eagle; Gunnison County Partners; Mesa County Retired & Senior Volunteer Program; Mesa County Partners; Paradise Place Community Christian School in Crested Butte; Valley View Hospital Association for the Continuing Care Project in Glenwood Springs; and the Wright Stuff Community Foundation in Norwood.

The fund was created by Bill Daniels, a cable television pioneer. The group also is known for the scholarships it grants to needy students in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.
