Luncheon to feature state’s chief marketer
That will be the subject of conversation at the Grand Junction Economic Partnership’s annual luncheon on Thursday.
And the man who will lead that discussion will be Aaron Kennedy, the state’s first chief marketing director.
“Aaron Kennedy has been a marketer for very, very recognizable brands, which I think is why it’s really exciting that he not only is the state’s chief marketing officer, but that he’s come to speak to us,” said Kelly Flenniken, executive director of the partnership. “He’s worked with Coca Cola, Burger King, Sears, Swiss Army, he started Noodles & Company, he’s been recognized as entrepreneur of the year by Ernst & Young, he’s a member of the Inc. 500 Hall of Fame, so he’s got some pretty exciting credentials.”
Kennedy will discuss the state’s new effort to rebrand itself, including a new logo and slogan, “Colorado: It’s our nature.”
Flenniken said that new effort is not just about attracting tourists to the state, but also new businesses.
“He’ll talk about some of the really exciting things we can do with that brand for economic development,” she said. “That was part of our Mesa County Economic Development Plan, which is to have a stronger message.”
