Maes, Tancredo hosting events today
Two candidates for governor will be in Grand Junction today.
Republican Dan Maes and American Constitution Party candidate Tom Tancredo will speak to voters at their own events.
Maes will hold a town hall meeting at Main Street Bagels, 559 Main St., at noon.
Meanwhile, Tancredo is expected to announced that, if elected, he will name Mesa County Commissioner Craig Meis to serve on the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, and appoint state Sen. Greg Brophy, R-Wray, to oversee the Colorado Department of Natural Resources.
Meis is an energy consultant with Olsson and Associates; Brophy is a melon farmer on the Eastern Plains.
Tancredo is to make that announcement at a press conference at 10:30 this morning in front of the Old Mesa County Courthouse at 544 Rood Ave.
At 2 p.m. today, Tancredo will attend a Pro Second Amendment Committee event at Grand Junction City Hall, 250 N. 5th St., and then return to the courthouse at 4 p.m. to meet voters.
The two men are running against Democrat John Hickenlooper.
