Man arrested after disturbance
An hour-and-a-half-long standoff ended Saturday night when authorities arrested a man who reportedly waved a gun during a domestic dispute.
The man was apprehended around 11 p.m. in a canal near the 2800 block of C 1/2 Road, authorities said. How he got there and why were unclear. His name and any charges he may be facing were not released.
Officers and deputies with the Grand Junction Police Department and Mesa County Sheriff’s Department closed off a block in every direction from a house at 2887 C 1/2 Road as they earlier attempted to force the man from the house.
No one at the scene could confirm why authorities were taking the man into custody. Area residents were warned to stay in their homes during the standoff.
