Man backed over, but not badly hurt

A man didn’t appear as if he was seriously injured after he was run over Tuesday near Mesa Mall.

The man, who was not identified but thought to be approximately 70 years old, was “alert and talking” as he was being taken by ambulance to a local hospital after the accident at McDonald’s, 2428 U.S. Highway 6&50, said Sgt. Jim Creasy with the Grand Junction Police Department.

Shortly after 7 p.m., officers responded to McDonald’s after a woman reportedly ran over a man’s leg after she knocked him over with the rear bumper of the Ford Excursion she was driving, Creasy said.

Creasy does not suspect the incident to be intentional or that drugs or alcohol were factors.
