Man dies after cliff car crash

A 42-year-old Aurora man died after he drove off a steep cliff on Coffee Pot Road in Garfield County, according to a release from Colorado State Patrol.

The crash was reported at 10:30 p.m., Monday, but it’s unknown when the crash happened, the agency said in the release.

The man, who was not identified, was the truck’s lone occupant and was ejected when his 2005 Ford truck fell nearly 120 feet off the dirt roadway about nine miles from Colorado River Road, State Patrol said.

The cause is still being investigated.

Coffee Pot Road was shut down for about an 90 minutes Tuesday to recover the truck.
