Man drowns in Westwater Canyon
A 47-year-old man drowned Thursday after he and four others were thrown from their raft in Westwater Canyon.
The Grand County Sheriff’s Department said Jaymond W. Brasher, of Littleton, was with a private group of rafters at the time of the accident around 12:45 p.m. in a section known as Skull Rapid. He was seen below the rapid floating down river, the sheriff’s department said.
As the three survivors made it to the river banks, they found what appeared to be Brasher’s life jacket.
The trio, among others, found Brasher’s body approximately eight miles down river, washed up on an island.
