Man faces charge of murder in baby’s death
5-month-old girl died of head, neck trauma
A 20-year-old Delta man who was arrested on suspicion of killing his five-month-old daughter was formally charged Wednesday with first-degree murder.
Daven Beck also is being charged with child abuse resulting in death and a misdemeanor charge of child abuse resulting in injury, according to Delta County Combined Courts.
Beck, who bonded out of the Delta County Jail, appears next in Delta County District Court on April 15 for a bond hearing. Prosecutors have filed a motion requesting a judge increase
Beck’s bond from the original $150,000.
Beck was arrested on a warrant March 31 on suspicion of killing his daughter, Cady Beck, during a Dec. 22 incident. At that time, Beck was the only person with his infant baby when she went limp and was unresponsive.
Cady died the next day at a Denver hospital, according to Beck’s arrest affidavit. Cady died of severe head and neck injuries from non-accidental trauma, the affidavit said.
