Man gets nearly 20-year sentence in child porn case

A Clifton man was sentenced Tuesday to serve just under 20 years in prison stemming from guilty pleas earlier this year to a child pornography charge.

Robert Arthur Brewster, 41, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Robert Jackson in Denver to serve 235 months in prison and was ordered to spend the rest of his life on supervision as a registered sex offender, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said Wednesday. He was also ordered to pay $3,000 to one of his victims.

Brewster is in federal custody.

Federal prosecutors said Brewster sent numerous photos and videos of child pornography to a girl he believed was a 13-year-old in 2010, trying to persuade her to participate in child pornography. The person Brewster was actually talking to online was an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children task force officer in Kentucky. He also sent a web camera to the fictitious teenager, encouraging her to use it for pornographic purposes, prosecutors said.

Federal agents and Mesa County sheriff’s deputies seized 870 images of child pornography from Brewster’s Clifton home during execution of a search warrant, including 22 videos. All the videos and images were found on Brewster’s computer.

Brewster was indicted by a federal grand jury in February and pleaded guilty in July.

Under the plea agreement, he forfeited all of his computers, child pornography and computer media used to produce child pornography, including three laptops, a computer tower, two cameras, two thumb drives, a web camera and an external hard drive.
