Man hurt after his truck strikes tree

Grand Junction Fire Department paramedics work on an elderly male victim after an accident in which a truck hit a tree at Ninth Street and Grand Avenue on Tuesday. No information was available on his condition.

One person was taken to a local hospital in an unknown condition after a Tuesday morning crash at a Grand Junction intersection.

A witness on scene said the victim was an elderly man and Grand Junction Fire Department paramedics were trying to revive him.

About 9:15 a.m., a Dodge truck reportedly jumped a curb and hit a tree before stopping a few feet from a business on the northwest corner of Ninth Street and Grand Avenue, the Grand Junction Police Department said.

The man driving apparently had a medical incident near Ninth Street and slumped over behind the wheel. The passenger tried to steer the truck, which hit a curb and a tree before coming to a stop near the intersection, the Police Department added.

The passenger was not injured.

The Police Department did not have an update on the man’s condition Tuesday night.
