Man in heels creates stir at Ryan event

Photo by Dean Humphrey—Chaaz Paulandsandras of Dallas, in pink high heels, who described himself as a follower of political events, argues with members of a crowd outside the Romney-Ryan campaign event at Colorado Mesa University. A woman who also argued with Paulandsandras became upset with a man who was videotaping their clash.

A robust discussion in front of Brownson Arena on Monday culminated with a woman throwing a plastic water bottle at a man who was capturing the moment on camera.

Ryan O’Hara, who said he had no ax to grind either way, said he saw a shouting match break out between a woman wearing a pink hat and a man, Chaaz Paulandsandras, who stood in large, pink high heels speaking to supporters of Paul Ryan, the Republican nominee for vice president.

At one point, the woman flung a bottle of water at him, O’Hara said.

“The lady yelled at me,” O’Hara said. “She targeted me because I was videotaping.”

A woman wearing a pink hat left the area shortly afterward with a crying child in tow.

Grand Junction police told him that they had contacted the woman and that she would apologize to him, O’Hara said, adding that he hoped for a stronger punishment.

Let’s just say the man in high heels threw the bottle of water at a woman. Would the police ask him just to apologize, or would he have been arrested? Just make it equal, officers.
