UPDATE: Alcohol suspected in fatal crash near Utah-Colorado line
Alcohol impairment is a suspected factor in a rollover crash on Interstate 70 in eastern Utah which killed a Texas killed woman, and injured another woman, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
Vivian Cooper, 67, of San Antonio, was behind the wheel of a 1998 Dodge Caravan, which careened off I-70 headed eastbound just after 9 a.m., about 11 miles from the Utah-Colorado line, Trooper Todd Johnson said. Cooper was pronounced dead at the scene.
Johnson said investigators believe the Caravan drifted into the median, before over-correcting back to the right and skidding off the roadway, crashing through a fence and rolling nearly twice.
A passenger, Tamra Kindred of San Antonio, suffered head injuries and was flown to St. Mary’s Hospital. Both women were wearing seat belts, Johnson said.
