Man shot at GJ apartment building

A man was shot by an unknown assailant at Racquet Club Apartments and was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital with a chest wound Monday night.

Police were looking for a dark blue, four-door Honda Accord they believe was involved in the shooting. The driver of the vehicle turned south from Patterson Road onto 28 1/4 and escaped from pursuing police units.

The victim, a 35-year-old male, was conscious and breathing after being shot. His condition was unknown. Witnesses had reported hearing three or four gunshots at the apartment complex at 2915 Orchard Ave., building D, shortly after 11 p.m.

Police were looking for a suspect who witnesses described as a heavy-set, bald, Hispanic male, about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, with tattoos on his neck and arm. A witness told police the man’s name may be Oscar.

Police later received a report of shots fired on 32 1/8 Road in Clifton, but it’s unknown if the two incidents are related.
