Man stabbed outside bar

A patron of Whiskey River nightclub was assaulted in the parking lot shortly after midnight Tuesday, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.

A 33-year-old Grand Junction man sustained one “significant stab wound to his abdomen,” spokeswoman Kate Porras said. “He was pretty seriously injured.”

An ambulance picked up the man from the parking lot and rushed him to St. Mary’s Hospital.

Police said they did not know the man’s condition.

Police interviewed several people at the bar. Two people were brought to the Police Department for questioning and were released, Porras said.

She said police anticipate making an arrest for felony assault in the case.
