Man sues Colorado Springs over gun arrest

COLORADO SPRINGS — A man wrongly arrested for carrying an open gun has filed a lawsuit against the city of Colorado Springs.

James Sorensen was arrested in July for openly carrying a gun in a city park.

According to KRDO-TV (http://tinyurl.com/cw3la6r ), Sorensen was detained, handcuffed and put in a holding cell for an hour following his arrest.

The officers were apparently unaware that it’s legal to open carry in city parks and has been since gun laws changed statewide in 2003.

In November, police completed an internal review on the arrest and officials said policy violations were discovered and appropriate administrative action was taken.
