Man turns himself in after being questioned in connection to stabbing

A 22-year-old man turned himself into police Tuesday afternoon in connection with a stabbing, police said.

Cory Smith was being questioned in connection with a scuffle involving several young men near 28 3/4 Road and Orchard Avenue early Tuesday, the Grand Junction Police Department said.

Around 1 a.m., two groups of men in their late teens or early 20s confronted each other. At least four people were injured, and one person was stabbed in the abdomen, police said.

Investigators are not looking for any other suspects at this time, police spokeswoman Kate Porras said.
