Man wanted in GJ rape attempt
Police on Thursday still were looking for a man who reportedly tried to kidnap and rape a woman on North Avenue as she was walking home.
Around 3 a.m. Wednesday, police were called on a report that a man had grabbed a woman as she walked along a sidewalk, dragged her behind a fence and tried to rape her in the area of 28 1/2 Road and North Avenue, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.
The woman was able to get away and ran to a nearby business, where she called police.
The suspect was described as a bald, Hispanic man, approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall and 150 pounds, and he was wearing jeans, a long-sleeve T-shirt and small eyeglasses at the time.
