Man accused of sex assaults on two
A Whitewater man was arrested Tuesday on allegations he gave marijuana and alcohol to two 14-year-old girls and sexually assaulted them several times over a five-month period earlier this year.
Mykal Daymon Chapman, 21, 160 Highland Ave., was advised in court Wednesday that he could be charged with multiple felony counts of sexual assault on a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was being held Wednesday night on $200,000 bail.
The father of one of the girls contacted the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department on Dec. 6 after learning his daughter had been experimenting with alcohol and marijuana and had had sex with Chapman. The father said his daughter had been taken to the emergency room after consuming marijuana laced with an unknown substance, according to an arrest affidavit.
The girl described several incidents for investigators in which she had been drinking alcohol or smoking marijuana, both of which were provided by Chapman, and was assaulted by Chapman at his former apartment in Clifton. In one incident, according to the girl, Chapman took turns assaulting her and her friend, according to the affidavit.
The second girl described similar events in a separate interview with investigators, according to the affidavit.
In an interview with investigators, Chapman admitted to the assaults and to giving the girls marijuana and alcohol. He also admitted he knew both girls were 14, according to the affidavit.
Investigators say the assaults occurred between June and November.
Mesa County District Attorney Pete Hautzinger said Chapman is currently on felony probation.
