Man arrested after report of child porn on computer
A Grand Junction man was arrested Monday on suspicion of possession of child pornography after investigators alleged they found dozens of pictures of nude boys on his home computer.
Curtis Marlin Pound, 47, 2915 Orchard Ave., No. B24, made his first appearance in court Tuesday and was advised he could be charged with two counts of possession of sexually explicit materials. He was released from Mesa County Jail on a $7,500 personal-recognizance bond and was ordered to be tracked by a global positioning system unit.
According to an arrest affidavit, a man told Mesa County Sheriff’s Department deputies last September he had met Pound and went back to Pound’s apartment for drinks. He said Pound told him about some Web sites he had visited but couldn’t remember the addresses.
The man said he knew how to pull up the computer’s browsing history, and when he did, he found several pictures of naked underage boys at Internet addresses. The man said when Pound saw the pictures, he hurriedly closed them and changed the subject, the affidavit said.
Deputies executed a search warrant at Pound’s apartment and seized a computer. They later examined the computer and found 265 images of young men. Two nurse practitioners who specialize in adolescent care also reviewed the photos and concluded 42 of them depicted nude boys under the age of 18, the affidavit said.
When questioned by investigators, Pound said he used his computer primarily for pornography but denied having any child pornography on his computer.
