Man shot in chest, found in Junction home backyard

A man was taken to a local hospital and treated for a gunshot wound to the chest after being found in the backyard of a Grand Junction home early Saturday morning, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.

Police are not releasing the names of anyone involved in the incident, and no one has been arrested.

Police were dispatched just before 1:30 a.m. to the home on a report of a shooting. The location of the home was not released.

The man had a single gunshot wound, police said.

“We have identified and located everybody. It’s not like we’re looking for anybody,” Police Department Sgt. Jim Creasy said.

Creasy said officers on Saturday were investigating the case and attempting to interview any witnesses. He said more information about the incident may be available Monday.
