Man shot, wounded; 2nd man arrested
One man was critically injured and another was taken into custody following a shooting at a Grand Junction home Sunday night, Grand Junction police said.
Police spokeswoman Kate Porras said officers went to a home at 2541 Texas Ave. just before 9 p.m. on a report of a fight between a man and a woman. Upon arrival, police found a man lying in the street, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Police dispatch reports indicated he had been shot in the head. Porras said multiple shots were fired from one gun outside the house but she didn’t know how many times the man was shot.
“The victim is at the hospital with very serious injuries,” she said.
Police found a second man in the area, quickly identified him as the suspect and took him into custody, she said.
The names and ages of the men weren’t immediately released. Porras said police know the relationship among the two men and the woman but declined to characterize it.
Detectives were interviewing multiple witnesses, including the woman and several neighbors. Forensic investigators were collecting evidence at the scene and were expected to be there throughout the night.
The home at 2541 Texas Ave. is owned by Robert McCleland, according to Mesa County assessor records.
