Man’s body found downtown
A man’s body was discovered this morning in the alleyway near Second Street, between Chipeta and Ouray avenues.
A resident walking to work around 6 a.m. came across the body, which was face down on the pavement, Grand Junction Police Cmdr. Greg Assenmacher said. Numerous belongings, such as tennis shoes, were found within a roughly 50-foot area around the body, Assenmacher said.
Investigators were canvassing the neighborhood and traffic along Second Street remained blocked off between Chipeta and Ouray as of 9 a.m.
Police spokeswoman Kate Porras said there are no obvious signs of foul play.
