Mavs win weather-shortened golf title

High winds and cold temperatures Tuesday morning forced the cancellation of the final round of the men’s Mesa State Maverick Quality Inn Spring Invitational.

Mesa State and Adams State were planning to play the final 18 holes of the tournament after playing 36 holes on Monday.

The Mavericks’ 630 team score beat Adams State by 20 strokes, with the Grizzlies’ Jonathan Atencio winning the individual title with rounds of 74 and 78 for a 152. Mesa State’s Brandon Bingaman and Eric Farmer tied for second at 155. The two had identical rounds Monday of 75 and 80.
