Medical condition may be to blame for crash that killed 91-year-old

Authorities on Tuesday said a sudden medical condition may have contributed to the death of an elderly Hotchkiss man who was killed in a single-vehicle crash Monday.

The accident happened about 10:15 a.m. a little more than a mile west of Hotchkiss on Colorado Highway 92, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

Troopers said Emery White, 91, was leaving a home on the north side of the highway in a 1998 Chevrolet pickup when the truck traveled across the highway and went off the south side of the road. The truck veered into a ditch, went through a fence and collided with a tree.

White was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers said there is no evidence of alcohol or drugs but that investigators suspect

White may have suffered some type of medical emergency that contributed to the accident.
