Mesa County cuts taxes
The Mesa County Commission this morning cut the county’s take of the business personal property tax by about $500,000.
The idea, Commission Chairman Craig Meis said, was to help struggling county businesses.
“Putting these dollars back into the hands of local business people helps keep area businesses healthy, and puts money back into our community,” Meis said.
The county is looking at layoffs as a result of dropping sales taxes and the cut in the business personal property tax is part of the county’s “Open for Business” initiaitive.
