Mesa County OKs sewer fees for Whitewater
The Mesa County Commission on Monday approved tap fees and sewer rates for landowners who want to hook into the new sewer line that will serve the Whitewater area beginning next year.
Under an agreement between the Clifton Sanitation District and the Whitewater Public Improvement District, the owners of the 74 parcels within the original public improvement district boundaries will pay the Clifton Sanitation District a one-time $2,900 plant investment fee and a $19.04-a-month service fee.
Landowners who purchase taps after May 31, 2011, or who aren’t within the original public improvement district boundaries will pay a $3,720 plant fee.
All landowners within the public improvement district who receive sewer service will pay additional plant investment and sewer service fees to the district. County officials say the cost of those fees are still being developed.
Workers are in the process of building a sewer line from Whitewater to the Clifton Sanitation District. County planners project that, at full build-out, Whitewater could be populated by 20,000 people.
