Montrose County Commissioner David White talks with members of the media Wednesday.

MONTROSE — The Montrose County Commission decided this morning the six remaining trustees on the Montrose Memorial Hospital board have one week to hand in their letters of resignation or be removed from the hospital’s board.

Commissioners Ron Henderson and David White voted 2-0, with commissioner Gary Ellis absent, to set the Nov. 3 deadline for the trustees’ resignations.

“This has been a situation where the board of trustees have, in my opinion, by forming this new entity, established a conflict, so my motion is to notify the board of trustees that they have until Nov. 3, 2010, to submit their resignation to the board of county commissioners or they will be removed on that date,” White said.

Attorney John Brooks, whose law firm is representing the trustees, said he would not comment on the matter.
