Montrose man arrested in FBI child porn sting

The FBI on Wednesday arrested a Montrose man after analysis of a computer he used turned up 300 photos and videos of child pornography, according to a criminal complaint.

David Anthony Roesener, 32, 66201 Landfill Road, is being held without bond at the Mesa County Jail on separate counts of possession and distribution of child pornography.

An FBI agent wrote in a criminal complaint that Roesener admitted trading child pornography, showing children around ages 8 to 10, with others in exchange for porn showing teenage boys. Roesener said he knew it was wrong, but he liked such material.

He told the agent he’s a recovering methamphetamine addict and used to host gay-sex and drug parties at an apartment on Townsend Avenue in Montrose, the complaint said.

Roesener had been under investigation since Nov. 11 when an agent working undercover, who was watching a publicly available peer-to-peer file sharing network, took interest in someone with online moniker “Blover4you,” according to the complaint.

“The (agent) was granted access to password protected shared files of ‘Blover4you’ and observed numerous file which depicted images and videos of child pornography,” the complaint reads.

The computer was traced to a trailer where Roesener had been living, where agents executed a search warrant and seized the computer. Roesener’s alleged admissions to the FBI were made at that time, the complaint said.

An analysis of the computer showed 277 images of child pornography and 23 videos. Of those, 85 of the images had been previously flagged through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the complaint said.

Roesener is scheduled for a detention hearing on Monday in Grand Junction.
