Montrose County begins registration for emergency notification system

MONTROSE — Montrose County officials are inviting the public to register online for emergency and disaster notification through an automated phone-messaging system.

The county said it will use the Target Notification System to relay emergency notifications to all land-line, cell and Internet phones.

“Target notification is generally used to communicate an immediate action that residents should take to remain safe during an emergency incident in a particular geographic area,” said Ike Holland, Montrose County emergency manager.

According to Holland the system requires a valid Montrose County home or work address.

Residents within the county can sign up for the notification system at http://www.montrosecounty.net. Click on: ‘Normal text rates apply’ for both services.
