Montrose festival scavenger hunt set
MONTROSE — A scavenger hunt with a $500 first prize will take place Thursday evening as part of the weekly Main in Motion festival.
Two-person teams are asked to register by 5 p.m. Wednesday. The cost is $20 per team.
Originally, teams with members 18 years or older were allowed to register, but due to increased popularity and interest, each team is asked to have at least one member 18 years of age.
“We’ve had a lot of kids interested, and so we ask that at least one member be 18 or older,” Main in Motion organizer Krista Montalvo said.
Teams need to be present by 6:30 at the Main in Motion tent at the intersection of Main Street and Uncompahgre Avenue to pick up packets containing information about 10 separate clues spread out along Main Street between Townsend and San Juan avenues.
The first team to complete all 10 clues, photograph them, and return to the Main in Motion tent will be declared the winner. Digital or cell phone cameras are within the rules.
“This is a race,” Montalvo said, adding the event’s goal is to connect local residents with store owners and shops in the downtown area.
First prize is $500, second prize is $300, and third place is $100.
Applications can be printed from http://www.maininmotion.com. Participants are asked to mail applications to: Main in Motion, P.O. Box 965, Montrose 81402, or drop them in the Canyon Creek Bed and Breakfast mailbox, 820 Main St.
