More trash will add to cost in Palisade
Palisade town residents likely will pay more to have their trash picked up beginning next month.
Town trustees Tuesday night unanimously approved a new fee schedule that will result in people paying more than they have in the past if they require larger or more trash cans.
After receiving service from Grand Junction-based Rocky Mountain Sanitation for the past few years, the town earlier this month agreed to a five-year contract with Dependable Waste Services of Parachute. The Town Board chose Dependable Waste Services from among four proposals because it offered the lowest price, Town Planner Nathan Boddy said.
Under Rocky Mountain Sanitation, residents provided their own trash cans and paid $8.85 a month for an unlimited number of cans.
With Dependable Waste Services, residents will use cans provided by the company and pay $8.85 a month for a 68-gallon container. For larger or additional containers, prices will range from $10.85 a month for a 95-gallon container to $16.85 a month for two 95-gallon containers, Boddy said.
The new service and fees take effect May 3.
