Moroccan student art to be at Blue Pig Gallery
The special education class at Grand Junction High School has been participating in a cultural art exchange with students from Morocco.
The art exchange was facilitated with the aid of Flying Art, a nonprofit organization that facilitates international exchange of art among youth, a news release said.
One of the results of this art exchange is The Flying Art-Moroccan Student Exchange exhibit hosted by The Blue Pig Gallery.
An opening reception for the exhibit will be from 5–7 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at the gallery, 119 W. Third St., in Palisade.
The reception will feature both American and Moroccan art created by the students, and local students will perform Moroccan drumbeats with rhythm sticks during the show.
The students created a mosaic glass globe featuring the United States and Morocco and will auction the globe and other artwork to raise funds for school programs.
