Motorcyclist dies in 28 1/2 Road crash

A Grand Junction police officer sets out cones to mark evidence at the scene of an accident at 28 1/2 Road and Bunting Avenue where a man riding a motorcycle was killed around 2:00 p.m. today.



A male motorcyclist was killed Tuesday afternoon after a collision with another vehicle on 28 1/2 Road near Elm Avenue.

The man, whose name was not yet being released, was launched about 30 feet from his bike, according to spokeswoman Kate Porras of the Grand Junction Police Department.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene. He was not wearing a helmet, police said.

The crash and investigation closed the intersection for hours.

Just after 2 p.m., the motorcyclist was heading south on 28 1/2 Road when his bike struck a Jeep Cherokee attempting to make a left turn from the Villa San Marcos apartment complex, 517 28 1/2 Road.

The driver of the Jeep, Brenda Malone, 56, was not injured in the crash.

The identity of the motorcyclist will be released after the Mesa County Coroner’s Office completes its investigation.
