National Public Lands Day will have something for everyone

Saturday is National Public Lands Day, with many local volunteers celebrating America’s bounty of public land.

The Grand Mesa Nordic Council will be working on a new ski trail at Skyway, the Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Association is doing work on the Palisade Rim Trail, and volunteers are sought for the cleanup at the public shooting range on 27 1/4 Road.

The Bureau of Land Management and numerous partners are hosting a free National Public Lands Day festival Saturday at the Bangs Canyon trail head, offering guided hikes, demonstrations and hands-on opportunities in search and rescue, rock climbing and trail building.
