National Guard unit scheduled to return Thursday to Montrose

Members of a medical support unit of the Colorado National Guard will return to Montrose on flights this Thursday, according to Sgt. Rick Bresett, who is coordinating a welcome home effort for the unit.

Bresett organized a send-off for the 928th Area Support Medical Company of the Colorado National Guard, nicknamed the “Witch Doctors,” when they departed for Afghanistan on Jan. 3, 2011. Bresett is planning a parade Friday morning in Montrose, followed by a ceremony that will take place at 11 a.m. Friday at Friendship Hall, 1001 N. Second St. in Montrose, according to an e-mail Bresett sent to fellow organizers this weekend.

A meeting will take place this morning to finalize more details for the event.
