Natural-gas rates to be lower than last year
The price of natural gas will be 10 percent lower in January than it was this month and about 16 percent lower than it was last January, Xcel Energy said Thursday.
Xcel said the rate reduction is the result of decreasing natural gas commodity prices.
Typical residential bills will be about $108.20 for natural gas next month, or $8.65 less than last year’s average January bill. Those amounts are based on usage of 137.1 therms.
Small-business bills on average will be $491.08 next month, down $40.71 from last January, based on projected use of 645.9 therms.
The new natural gas commodity price will take effect Jan. 1.
