New signs to be installed in Glenwood Canyon

New and improved overhead signs are scheduled to be installed in Glenwood Canyon this week.

The first sign will be hung over the Hanging Lake Tunnel portal and will be installed on Wednesday and Thursday.  The next three signs are scheduled for the nights of Aug. 19–21 and are located between mile markers 125–126. The work is scheduled to begin around 9 p.m. when traffic volumes are lower.

The right westbound lane on Interstate 70 in Glenwood Canyon will be closed for safety measures during the installation process.

The contractor will be staging equipment in the left lane westbound, which is already a closed lane, for an existing resurfacing project that is taking place in the canyon. Flaggers and traffic control will be in place.

The old sign will be removed the first night and replaced with the new sign. On the second night, electrical work will be completed.

Drivers should expect delays of 45 minutes to an hour.
