North Avenue store robbed at gunpoint; suspect jailed

Grand Junction police arrested a man this morning in connection with a gunpoint robbery at a North Avenue convenience store.

Milton Telemaque, 24, of Grand Junction, was booked at the Mesa County Jail after officers pursued and finally caught up with him on the property of GJ Ready Mix, according to police. Mesa County Sheriff’s Office deputies and a Fruita police K-9 unit assisted in the effort.

Police were originally called around 4 a.m. to C & F Food store, 2847 North Ave.,  on a report of an armed robbery and the suspect fleeing with cash.

A stretch of North Avenue from 28 1/4 Rd to Harris Rd,. and 28 1/4 Rd from North Ave. to Gunnison Ave., was briefly closed while officers searched the area.
