OA: Riveter celebrates new release at Quincy Bar

The only thing frilly about Riveter is the heart-shaped bass — before it rocks your face off.

Back again with another EP is Riveter, Grand Junction’s girl-fronted rock band. The CD release party for “Snatch,” a five-song disc of all originals, is at 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Quincy Bar and Grill.

“I think this CD kind of shows, I don’t want to say a darker side because that’s overused, but that’s kind of what it does,” said the band’s guitarist and lead vocalist Kelley Raymond. “The songs are a little darker, a little edgier.”

The title track, “Snatch,” is about seizing opportunities, Raymond said.

“It just reflects where we’ve been in the last several months, and maybe the direction we’re going in,” she said.

Riveter is made up of Raymond, vocals and guitar by Robin Dearing, vocals and bass by Laurena Mayne Davis and Scotty “Boom Boom” Davis on drums.

“Snatch” is the fourth mini CD for Riveter. The band’s last EP, “Creepy Girl,” was released a little less than a year ago.

This time around, Riveter has a new logo (courtesy of Andrew Watson with Press Gang Designs) and new merchandise that will be for sale at the Quincy show along with the CDs ($5).
