Blue Bell Ice Cream in Grand Junction

The clouds opened and like a ray of light shining from heaven, Grand Junction was blessed with Blue Bell Ice Cream.

No other ice cream compares to Blue Bell’s Homemade Vanilla. It’s the BEST vanilla ice cream I’ve had in my entire life — and I eat a lot of ice cream. The Mint Chocolate Chip isn’t bad, either.

The new Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory store on 12th Street opened Monday, and I was there the first day so I could get a scoop of Blue Bell, you can ask my editor.

Blue Bell is difficult to get outside of the state of Texas. It can only be found in 20 percent of the nation’s grocery stores and Colorado is not one of the states, according to the company’s Web site. The store owner told me her store is only the third Colorado retail store (in general) to offer Blue Bell.

A single scoop will set you back $2.95, a double scoop costs $3.95. You can also buy the ice cream to go, or get shakes, malts, floats, sundaes and cones.

When I was in middle school in Texas we went on a field trip to the Blue Bell Ice Cream factory in Brenham.

It was an experience I will never forget.

I highly recommend you make a trip to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory to get ice cream, and maybe a caramel apple and some fudge, too.
