Officer threatened by vehicle; man held
A 47-year-old Grand Junction man was arrested early Sunday on suspicion of attempted vehicular assault and other offenses after a confrontation with police, authorities said.
Kevin Day Dunlow, 2052 S. Broadway, was arrested in the 1600 block of White Avenue, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.
A white van being driven Dunlow was swerving when an officer attempted to wave it down, using a flashlight, his arrest affidavit said.
The vehicle approached the curb where the officer was standing, and the officer said he thought the vehicle was going to stop, the affidavit said. It alleged that the van, instead, sped up and swerved toward the officer before stopping about 4 feet from him.
After the officer told Dunlow to exit the van, he struggled to do so and had bloodshot and watery eyes, the affidavit alleged. A search of Dunlow’s vehicle yielded a bag of suspected marijuana, the affidavit said.
Dunlow also was arrested on suspicion of criminal attempt, reckless driving, driving under the influence of drugs and marijuana possession.
